BEREA — When the Browns decided to let free safety Brian Russell leave in free agency this year, they lost the quarterback of their defensive backfield....

Hey a guy under the age of 35 playing safety! What a novel idea!

Remind me again why the Vikings got rid of that guy 10 years ago or whenever it was.

Re: Browns miss hard-hitting Brian Russell

What a goofy article. I wonder if this guy is a buddy of Russell's or something. The Browns are clearly missing him as they roll out to a 5-3 start after going 10-22 with his stellar leadership as the "quarterback of their defense."
Russell has alwasy been a VERY big liability as a coverage safety ... is a poor tackler ... and has made maybe five solid hits in his career. HE IS A SAFETY ... they make hits ... the one against Chad Johnson a year or two ago is not that big of a deal.
    Garbage.
