Re: Broncos fire Shanahan
Another prime example of why a HC can't do FO/GM duties.
Anyone could see this coming if they didn't suceed this year, especially after Mike fired his VP of Player Personnel.
No other excuses for losing..... ;D

The blockbuster of the coaching season just came in: The Denver Broncos fired Mike Shanahan.
Shanahan had three years and upwards of $20 million remaining on his contract.
Shanahan, who just completed his 14th season at the helm of the Broncos, was the longest tenured coach in franchise history. He also held the title of executive vice president of football operations.
The two-time Super Bowl-winning coach guided the Broncos to nine winning seasons, seven playoff berths and three conference championships. The Broncos finished 8-8 this season, missing the playoffs for the third consecutive season.
He won't be without a head coaching job for long, unless it's by his choice. I'm shocked. Who do they think they are going to get that's better?
Re: Broncos fire Shanahan
They had alot of problems this year.. And Mike wasn't one of them

Problem with Mike was/is he was trying to do GM and HC duties at the same time.
Not sure why coaches, after they have some success, try to do it.
Everyone of them (everyone) has failed at it.

My guess is the Bronco's, who have a nice group of players as thier core group, will hire a GM and a new HC that will continue to use the same schemes that Shanahan used as the players seemed to fit it pretty well.
Re: Broncos fire Shanahan
I think he'd just gotten too comfortable there.

Denny Green needs a job
I wouldn't be to suprised if Denny doesn't re-emerge someplace.
Lots of stuff going on.
Problem is, 3 young/cheap guys won this year.
Gonna be hard for a guy like Denny to get a job for the number he will probably want.
Re: Broncos fire Shanahan
I am not sure what else he needs to prove to keep his job. There are probably 25 or so coaches who couldn't hold his clipboard
