    Brady overrated?
Now I have heard it all.
I am sure he must have done something positive to help his team win a Super Bowl or 3.

As far as Favre...I hate him.
But I must admit he is not overrated.
He will go down as one of the best ever.
Not "THE" best, but one of them.

I guess by the way some players are judged, you could say Fran was overrated also.

    Re: Brady overrated?

    Dave's (PurpleMafia's) Top 5 list of Overrated
    ------------------------------------
    1. Rex Grossman - Wow, I'd love to be this guy. A mediocre QB that shines because of the great defense he follows. *cough* Trent Dilfer and the 2001 Ravens.*cough* Hell, they even made Kyle Orton look good...
    2. Terrell Owens - Great player, bad attitude. Part of being a player means getting along with teammates to help your club win games. It seems to me that he has done more bad than good.
    3. The 2006 Indianapolis Colts - Living in Indy, I have to hear their bs after every game on monday. Not only did they almost lose to the Titans,Jets,Redskins, and Broncos, they were out played in every one of those games. Best offense in the NFL? Yes. Best team in the NFL? Not even close.
    4. Brett Favre - The man is a legend, as we all know unfortunatly, but sometimes its just time to retire and let the young guys behind you help your team get into playoff contention. Brett should have retired last year if not before that.
    5. Michael Vick - except for his 3 TD game yesterday, this guy has been nothing but a HB his whole career. He should have just switched to WR like Randle El

I'm sure I missed a few, but this is how I've seen it. If you disagree, reply to this and tell me where youd change it.

This is IMO a stupid article they actually put payton manning in the top 7 of overated player.Plus brady is definatly not overrated.I think he is one of the best QBs in the league.
    Thoughts?
IMHO, many of those on that list deserve to be there.
    Tom Brady is an exception.
Any time you win THREE Superbowls in 4 years, you are most definately for real.

    AS for the rest:

    Terrell Owens, Cowboys.....10%:
    Deserves to be here.
For a guy who is hyped to be the best in the NFL, he sure can make a team implode well.

    Brian Urlacher, Bears.....8%:
    Not sure he belongs here.
As Urlacher goes, so go the Bears Defense.
Urlacher doesn't do it alone...and he doesn't claim to.
What he does do is make the rest of the Defense better.

    Ray Lewis, Ravens.....7%:
I'm not sure this applies now either.
Until Baltimore's D melts down (Which it isn't showing any signs of doing), Lewis is still the cornerstone of that unit.
Like Urlacher, he makes that unit gell.

    Michael Vick, Falcons.....7%:
    Absolutely over rated.
He's an electric player, but hasn't shown consistancy in the past.
While he's now put together two excellent games in a row, the jury is out on Mr. Mexico.

    Eli Manning, Giants.....4%:
    What did people expect?
He's been in the league how long?
All he HAS is hype so far.
Anyone rating him high is speculating, so of course he's over rated.

    Keyshawn Johnson, Panthers.....4%:
    Me-Shawn.
If you look over rated up in the Dictionary, his picture is there.
    "nuff said.

    Peyton Manning, Colts.....4%:
    No way this is true.
Peyton can't win the big one, but he is definately one of the NFL's elite QB's.

    Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers.....3%:
Absolutely true...and we're seeing it now.
The Steelers are a pitiful 2-5 after winning the Superbowl.
"Big Ben" has a long way to go before he's considered elite in my book.

    Charles Woodson, Packers.....3%:
He's had a couple good games against a couple bad teams...other than that, he's not what he used to be.
I don't know if he's over rated though because I'm not sure where he's rated lately.
I had him near the bottom....was that too high?

    Warren Sapp, Raiders.....3%:
    All mouth, no action.
He used to be great, now he's just rep.

    Re: Brady overrated?

As stated on Pillage and Plunder last night we talked about the poll of over 300 NFL players and who they thought was overrated:

    1.
    T.O.
    2.
    Urlacher
    3.
    Ray Lewis
    4.
    Ron Mexico

    Re: Brady overrated?

brady is somewhat overrated. he did win 3 super bowls but, he does not put up the stats like other great qb.
he also does not have the wide outs like Peyton Manning. brady is great game manger.
Michael Vick is the most overrated qb of all time. michael vick is
a great running back. he has 5 great passing game in his life.

Doesn't put up the numbers? Umm...I beg to differ.

    2002- 3764 yds.
    28 TDs
    2003- 3620 yds.
    23 TDs
    2004- 3692 yds.
    28 TDs
    2005- 4110 yds.
    26 TDs

Those are pretty dang nice numbers. They've been at the top of league every year, so saying that Brady is only a good game manager and not a good statistical quarterback is wrong, IMO. He is a great game manager, but he's also capable of putting up big numbers. Plus, you said it, he has put up those numbers without great receivers.

I think both manning and brady are great QB's, I dont know how a fan base calling brad johnson a savior can call any QB overrated.
I would take either one in a heartbeat especially over johnson.
Its either smoots fault or the media's fault johnson is not on that list as being a top QB

You forgot about the fans that think the media is out to get them.
    Your big three:

    1. BJ.
    2. Smoot
    3. Fans and Media
Not to open a can of worms, but who said he's a savior?

    Re: Brady overrated?

I'm not a Patriots fan by any of stretch of the imagination, but I have no respect for anyone who says Brady is over-rated. Name one facet of his game that is over-rated?

Does he fail regularly in the clutch?
Er.. Does 3 Superbowls and countless fourth-quarter-comebacks mean anything?

Does he rely on superstar receivers and running backs to make plays for him?
Er.. Does Troy Brown, Kevin Faulk and an ever-rotating cast of O-Lineman count as superstars?

    Are his stats really bad?
Er.. I'd call a career-60% passer who consistently throws between 20 and 30 TD's a season bloody good.

Does he piss and moan when things aren't going his way?
Er.. Would you say playing with a sports hernia for the better part of 7 weeks as sucking it up?

He's a first-ballot Hall of Famer. He's one of the best QB's of this generation and will be revered in the same class as Montana, Young, Bradshaw, and Aikman when he's done.

    Re: Brady overrated?

caine, if warren sapp is even being rated right now.......

    my top 5 most over-rated.

1)rex grossman- i have to agree w/ mafia on this one, there's no way this guy is as good as people make him out to be. they rocked it last year w/ that rookie qb last year (gah his name escapes me). great defense, great coaching, but in no way is grossman a great qb.

    2) ROMO- the dallas fans have been
screaming his name, but he's a horrific player. when dallas sent romo in, they practically threw in the towel to their season.

    3) big ben- for the same reasons caine had. make sure to poke fun at all the bandwagon steelers fan that just hopped off.

    4) deanglo hall- what is up with this dude? it sure seems like every kid nowadays wants to be like this punk. getting into fights before games and getting beat deep are routine for hall, but he always gets his pick a game and has "blazing" speed.
