You see the article were they talked about the issues with respect to tagging Rice?

Basically the thought is he would cop a bigger attitude than he did by being tendered this year. Idea is to go ahead and trade BB and basically give Rice the same contract (maybe a bit higher) and see if he takes it. If he doesn't let his injured ass move on.

That is, if you really believe Rice didn't play because he was mad. (which I don't)

I think he's just an idiot who didn't get surgery and realized he wasn't getting any better without.

I don't see where you see any attitude coming from Rice. He's played hard on the field when healthy, when injured, he was saying all the right things, this is 100% YOUR speculation.

I agree. I think he was just stupid. There is no sign that he didn't play because he was "mad."

Normally, cases like that are revealed to the media at some point, we never heard about any contract talks or issues.

I would say that if we can get rid of Berrian for a draft pick or something and unload his contract, the BB contract would be a more than fair offer to Rice. He has been injured WAY too often to warrant anything larger than that.

All that said ... I would have loved to have been able to make a run at VJax ... I think his talent and size are really incomparable and he is ready to really explode.

Of course, Rice is three years younger and if he can put the numerous injury issues behind him, he could be good for years to come.

Honestly? You don't think his agent advised him to miss half the season to minimize his risk of getting injured so that he could be sure to be healthy for his big contract this year?

You need to go read some of the other articles being written about other players who have done the exact thing on other teams this year my friend.

I don't see where you see any attitude coming from Rice. He's played hard on the field when healthy, when injured, he was saying all the right things, this is 100% YOUR speculation.
Hey, how quickly you forget how big of a champion I was of El Syd and his talents long before you guys started slobbering all over his knob last year. I saw how good the kid could be if he could just stay healthy when most of you were ready to shit can his ass so don't question my current disappointment in his actions last year.

Again, he listened to his agent and put himself above the team. I can see and understand it but it doesn't make me want to be as charged about him as I am about how Chad handled the same exact situation.

Comeon Midg. You don't think that an agent would advise his player to miss half the season, especially one that seems to have injury issues, just because he or his agent hasn't leaked it to the press?

First, it happens alot in the league. It isn't anything new. Second, why would the two of them leak it? The agent would loose his license and the player would be viewed as crap by the other owners.

I guess I need to go find a couple of the articles that said the players (not Vikings) understood what is going on with respect to the business side of the game.

I guess I'll start with a few of the cats that held out last year like V-jax and a couple of his other Charger teammates.

Yeah, it happens. To good players. Rice had one good season, and has a history of injury problems. Do you think teams are going to give him Moss or Owens type money when he's injury-prone? It was his contract year. That's the year you want to play your best to earn that paycheck, not bitch out on the bench. Look at guys like haynesworth. Played great his contract year. Went to the skins and did nothing.

THAT is what happens more often than not.

Were in the hell did you get the "Moss/Owens" money from? Completely off the discussion point.

His agent advised him to skip as much of the season as he could so that he didn't risk getting a career ending injury. They will then enter this year with the stats he has and they will clean up.

Again, as I asked earlier, have you read some of the articles I posted/that are out there and look at the numbers they are talking? The Vikes are toying with the idea of tagging him which would get him "Top 5" money.

Not bad when you think about it. If he is good enough to get that, he will get a long term deal worth atleast what Berrian got,if not a bit more.

How so? Rice is a good player, and Rosenhaus will try and convince him he's worth top dollar in the NFL. based on the one season, the catches he's made, what he's done, he's worth the money. Based on his career, it's not even close. If he's done his first contract now, he's going to want to get a big contract as the next one, as we've seen what happens when receivers try and demand more money later on. They don't get it.

His agent advised him to skip as much of the season as he could so that he didn't risk getting a career ending injury. They will then enter this year with the stats he has and they will clean up.
Two things. first, you state that like it's a fact, when every shred of evidence except for your opinion states otherwise.
Secondly, it doesn't make sense. Why would they try and go into a year where he has to negotiate a new contract with very mediocre stats?

36 rec, 532 yards, 4.5 td per season. those are NOT the kind of numbers that will get you the big bucks.
Again, as I asked earlier, have you read some of the articles I posted/that are out there and look at the numbers they are talking? The Vikes are toying with the idea of tagging him which would get him "Top 5" money.
Then tag him, I've already said they should.
