Bills' TE Everett suffers neck injury

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) - Kevin Everett had surgery Sunday evening, hours after the Buffalo Bills reserve tight end showed no signs of movement after sustaining a severe neck injury in the team's season opener against Denver.

Bills spokesman Scott Berchtold said he was informed by the team's medical staff the player went into surgery at a Buffalo hospital at about 8 p.m. Berchtold said he had no further information, and didn't know whether Everett had shown any signs of movement since he was driven off the field in an ambulance....

My prayers go out to Kevin and his family. It's never good to see this happen to anyone- reguardless of the team they play for. When I saw the hit, it didn't look too bad....it actually looked like the guy he hit got the worst of it. It's just one of those things where he got hit in just the wrong spot. I hope he has a speedy recovery and is back playing football in no time!

I second that. Football is a violent sport, and unfortunately things like this happen. I will pray for him too.

I was actually watching this game (along with the Vikings game) with a Bills fan. My hopes and prayers go out to him as well... it didn't look good.

Man, i feel bad for this guy. He has been plagued by injuries his whole college and NFL career. He is a talented player he just needs to stay healthy. This dosnt look good though i doubt he will be able to return to football after a neck injury. This is like the David Pollack situation who i also feel bad for.

All I saw was the replay of the hit. Looked like he struck with the crown of his helmet. Very serious injury for them to take him to surgery so fast. My prayers are with this young man.

Unfortunatly he will probably be out for season im guessing..

It ussually ends up that way.. Sad to see really

Hopefully he has no serious permenent injuries and can make it back

I saw on the ESPN ticker that he is in the ICU after surgery.
