The Vikings 1st and two 2nds are WAY overpaying to move up to #8, according to the value chart. Even value is the Vikings 1st, the first in the 2nd round (#48) and the Vikings 5th round pick.

I don't want Cutler badly enough to trade the Vikings top two picks for, much less the top two and the 5th rounder. If AJ Hawk is available, I might consider it, but even that is a lot.

I would not trade up. A qb we could get in the 2nd round. With the 17th pick we should look at linebacker, and then Deanglo williams.

If we do end up trading up, I don't think it would be for a QB.

Apparently Sims' stock is taking off, and I highly doubt he will be there at 17. Maybe our staff is really high on Sims and doesn't wanna miss out on him.

    Just a thought.

i hate this.... it literally makes no sense to trade away 3 picks for 1 pick when none of these guys have proven they're any better than the other.... and to say someone has proven themselves in college is saying nothing at all

Has anyone seen Sims play more than a couple of games? I have a hard time getting excited about him based off of his combine workout. I've seen Greenway play and he is for real.

I would not trade my 1st, 2nd and another pick for Ernie Sims, who before the combine was not considered a 1st round pick. Some drafts in January after the college season ended had the Viking's drafting him in the second round.

He climbed so high because he ran a fast time at the combine and has big muscles, Greenway was a much better college player on game days.

If they both are gone then the Vikes should trade down in the 1st to around 24th, and pickup another draft pick, and take Thomas Howard or Bobby Carpenter in the 1st.

    Ernie Sims 5' 11" & 1/8
    231 lbs

    2005 Season

    72 Tackles
    10 for loss
    2 1/2 sacks
    2 INT's

    2004 Season

    86 Tackles
    9 for loss
    4 1/2 sacks
    0 INT's

    Chad Greenway 6' 2 & 1/2
    242 lbs

    2005 Season

    156 Tackles
    10 for loss
    2 sacks
    1 INT

    2004 Season

    113 Tackles
    8 for loss
    3 sacks
    3 INT's
What we've got here is failure to communicate.

I'm absolutely not saying we SHOULD trade up for Sims, just throwing it out there as a possibility. I'm all for not trading any picks, unless its for Schaub, and sitting with what we have.

Re: Bills could pass up No. 8 pick, deal down

You know who is a tight RB not in the 1st round?

Joseph Addai, running back, LSU: Most people have Addai going early in the second round. But if the other four higher-rated running backs are gone by the time the Colts pick at number 30 in the first round, don't be shocked to hear them call Addai's name.

"He's a perfect fit for the Colts' offense,' said a personnel man. "He's got speed, he can block, catch passes out of the backfield and he can help you some in the return game. He's an all-purpose guy. He's kind of intriguing.'

Addai opened eyes when he clocked a 4.4 in the 40-yard dash at the combine, and his value in relation to his pick projection is considered high.
