    Benson hurt..again

    'Hopefully it isn't too serious'
Bears' Benson injures left shoulder at practice
    Posted: Friday August 4, 2006 11:32PM; Updated: Friday August 4, 2006 11:32PM

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. (AP) -- Chicago Bears running back Cedric Benson left practice Friday night on a cart after injuring his left shoulder.

Coach Lovie Smith said more would be known Saturday morning after X-rays are taken. Benson had his arm and shoulder in a sling as he was taken from Ward Field at Olivet Nazarene University.

The Bears' No. 1 2005 draft pick was struck by linebacker Brian Urlacher and then safety Mike Brown after catching a pass over the middle.

"He broke through, a freak accident, those kind of things happen," Bears coach Lovie Smith said. "Hopefully it isn't too serious."

Urlacher said, "I don't know what happened. I turned around and he was on the ground and I went back to the huddle. That's all I remember. I don't even know if I was the one to hit him."

An injury for any length of time could leave the Bears short on running backs.

Backup Thomas Jones, the team's leading rusher last year, is out indefinitely with a pulled hamstring.

Fifth-year back Adrian Peterson was the second-leading rusher last year for the Bears with 391 yards on 76 carries.

Benson rushed for 272 yards on 67 carries but missed the final six games with a strained right collateral knee ligament.

Also Friday, starting wide receiver Bernard Berrian left practice with a right hip-flexor injury.

Earlier in the day, guard Terrence Metcalf and wide receiver Airese Currie underwent arthroscopic knee surgery after experiencing knee pain. They both had missed practices the previous day.

I just saw the Benson injury on sports center and it looks worse than what they indicated in this article! I would say dislocated shoulder.
What we've got here is failure to communicate.

Wow...thats Karma.Stiff your number 1 from last year, and reap the benifits!Thomas Jones should be the number 1 back in Chicago. You should earn your spot not bye your draft status or payroll.Whoever earns it earns it.Then its yours to lose.Stupid Bears.

Theres NOTHING greater then a Florida Gator!

Bears | Benson carted off with shoulder injury
    Fri, 4 Aug 2006 20:31:34 -0700

Larry Mayer, of ChicagoBears.com, reports Chicago Bears RB Cedric Benson (shoulder) was carted off the field Friday, Aug. 4, after injuring his left shoulder. Benson went down after getting hit in rapid succession by LB Brian Urlacher and SS Mike Brown. Benson was treated on the field for about seven minutes before being driven to the locker room where his shoulder was wrapped. Head coach Lovie Smith said the team will get X-rays on it, but all they knew was that it was a shoulder injury.

    No, great for us...

I don't like to see anyone get hurt, but if it has to happen, it may as well happen to the team that we play twice a year for the division crown..
