Possible, it was a stress fracture...and the Bengals have a clause in his contract that if his weight goes over 350 lbs during the season, he forfeits some hefty bucks.

When I was listening to Sirius NFL this afternoon they we're saying Smith was 30 to 35 lbs over the 350 and that is why the clause was put in the contract.
They also added that there was a rumor Smith was close to 400 bills after the OTAs, he must have the idea of off field conditioning is buffet busting.

Not sure how true that really is, Smith is listed at 335 and why would he sign with a clause regarding 350 limit if he was over but maybe his hold out had to do with removing the clause or the weight.
