Possible, it was a stress fracture...and the Bengals have a clause in his contract that if his weight goes over 350 lbs during the season, he forfeits some hefty bucks.

Not sure how true that really is, Smith is listed at 335 and why would he sign with a clause regarding 350 limit if he was over but maybe his hold out had to do with removing the clause or the weight.
