Just in case you were wondering, Roethlisberger decided to wear a helmet during the regular season this year.

Gerry Dulac, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (head) will wear the same helmet he wore during the 2005 season, despite the number of broken bones in his face. He experimented with several other helmets which fit lower around the jaw and was designed to protect against concussions. However, the helmet hindered his vision. Roethlisberger said, "I'll take the chance. I don't hear about too many football players breaking their jaw, so I'll take a chance my helmet will be good."

Maybe, when he's playing in Pennsylvania, he could not bother with the helmet. Judging by his views with motorcycle helmets then maybe he won't be breaking the law :twisted:

Too bad helmet to helmet hitting is not allowed, so that theory can be tested.

Actually he just regained feeling in his face a week ago. His jaw, however, is still numb.

he might be ready to play during the season, but I guarantee, he suffers some kind of set back with head or jaw problems some point in the season..no doubt ! injuries like that just dont go away, and football hits will add to that.

Ben Roethlisberger says he'll only wear his helmet during pass plays since QB's don't usually get hit during the hand-off. He has seen it happen before but it is rare and he'll take his chances.
