    Works now.
But something has to be wrong with Rivera, He was the hot coach going into the offseason, and has been turned down by everyone, even the re-tred coaches. I wouln't mind seeing him in some capacity here.

It's a race thing....they don't think that Hispanics can succeed at the Head Coaching level.

I think of course he'll land somewhere by the time the new season begins..whether its here or elsewhere...he would make a great coach somewhere..for DC or HC

I know that we needed to act quickly in choosing our new DC, but how many here wish we would have gotten Ron Rivera instead of Leslie Frazier? Rivera has done wonders with that Bears defense.. He would know how to get the most out of our Vikings..

It would have been nice, but it's the same reason he didn't get a head coaching job.
The farther you go in the playoffs the more nervous teams get finding coaches as fast as possible.

Re: Bears won't renew Rivera's contract

This was rather surprising to me; however, it makes sense now that I've though about it.

For one, The Bears owners are cheap. Rivera's contract is up, and he is due a raise by looking at the success of the D. They don't want to pay him big Coordinator $... hell they are even low-balling Lovie.

Going on the same cheap theory, they can promote the LB coach, pay him about what Rivera got, and lose minimal production because Lovie is so involved in the Defense.

Thirdly, how many times have we, Vikes Fans, bitched about our Coordinators leaving to go on to be HCs.
Tomlin, Linehan, Billick, Dungy etc, etc. sound familiar?
Rivera is/was a hot commodity for a HC position.
In Lovies' mind Rivera will be leaving at some point, sooner probably rather than later.
Why sign him up to a new contract only to have him leave in the next 1 - 14 months?
Its easier to make the break with Rivera now, promote Babich, and pump some new juice in the D.

Unfortunately the word on the street is that Rivera has not been Interviewing well which could be his demise in his quest to become a HC.
