Last night agent Drew Rosenhaus e-mailed the entire league to say the Chicago Bears are willing to trade tight end Greg Olsen. Today the Bears have, indeed, traded Olsen — to the Carolina Panthers.
Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Bears traded Olsen to the Panthers for a player and a draft pick. There’s no word on who the player is or what the draft pick is, although Biggs notes that the player is not Steve Smith. (Sorry, Bears fans.)
Great news for Vikings fans! Bears fans are absolutely livid about this.
Re: Bears trade Greg Olsen to Panthers
Big target for Cam I guess.
Re: Bears trade Greg Olsen to Panthers
Ha ha! Yes!!! :)
I hated to play against him. He always did good against the Vikings.
Re: Bears trade Greg Olsen to Panthers
Kind of gives me some hope that Devin Aromashodu might turn out to be reliable.
Mike Martz is clearly picky when it comes to the players he wants.
Re: Bears trade Greg Olsen to Panthers
The Bears then picked up former Steeler and Minnesota Gopher Matt Spaeth, also a native of St. Michael, MN.
Re: Bears trade Greg Olsen to Panthers
"The Steelers went on to win. In 2009, Matt had 5 catches for 25 yards and 1 touchdown."
SWEET!!
Don't know mucha bout Spaeth, style of play, etc.

He had a pretty good college career but played as a backup to Heath Miller in Pittsburgh. Sounds like he was mostly used as a blocker for Pittsburgh. Not nearly as intimidating as Greg Olsen, that's for damn sure. At any rate, he graduated high school with my wife and bro-in-law and has a Super Bowl ring - hence my family's interest in the guy.
