Bears' Matt Forte making first impression an ever-lasting one

A nice article that explains why Matt Forte is so important to the Chicago Bears.
Also, I strongly advice you to read the comment by Cedric Benson on Matt Forte's succes on Benson's former team. Really sad, the guy seems to have no class at all. If I was a Bears fan I would be happy that he's gone.

In case you don't bother to read the whole article, here's the part about Benson I was talking about:

Benson is with the Bengals now. He notices from afar the name Forte is making for himself. He remembers a quiet Forte in training camp.

Benson knows what might have been for him and the Bears.

"My time there was short," Benson said. "I sat for two years. The third year I was hurt. The fourth year, this year, I got cut before the season. The fourth season was going to be my time. It looked like we would have had a 1-2 punch with me and Forte in there. He would have gotten the ball and that would have worked for me."
He is making up dum-witted excuses to why he didn't perform well in Chicago, but it get's much worse...

"He is having a great year, but when I see the highlights, I see holes. I see them using him in the slot, something they didn't do with me. If I was there right now with the holes I see, I'd probably have 1,800 yards right now. I definitely would have 1,500 by now. I congratulate him on all of his success. He is taking advantage."
    Wow!!!
That guy is one big presumptuous deucebag!

    ---

I also want to bring something else to light. I don't like this quote from the article:

Minnesota's Adrian Peterson rushed for 1,341 yards as a rookie last season. With three games to go, Forte could surpass that total.
Although it's true, the writer leaves out some very important facts: Matt Forte has had 269 carries (third-most in the league) so far in his rookie season. Adrian Peterson had only 238 carries in his whole rookie season.
The reason to why Adrian didn't get alot of carries was because Minnesota already had a very good running back. In contrast, Chicago had one of the worst backfields in the NFL coming into the draft.

The thing that I don't like about this quote is that the writer is comparing Forte to Adrian and putting Forte above Adrian (in one kinda way). I'll admitt, Adrian is far from as good of blocker that Forte is, and Forte is definitely a much better receiver than Adrian.
However, Forte is not even close to Adrian when it comes to the pure running part of being a running back. Adrian had 5.6 yards/carry in his rookie year, Forte has barely 4.0 so far in his rookie year.

Nevertheless, Matt Forte looks like a steal. He acts like a great team player, he's a good runner, and he's a very versatile runningback with great hands. So good out of the backfield that he looks like a over-the-middle wide receiver sometimes.

Nice post, but who cares if Forte was a steal?

Forte is a Big Mac and Peterson is a Steak Dinner with all the fixings.

They can have their cheap excuse for a RB. I thought Ryan Grant was supposed to be big this year too?

While it's irritating to see him try and put Forte's rookie season over Peterson's, damn near everyone knows it's not true, ask alot of people and they'd take Peterson 1, but Forte definitely comes in 2nd out of RBs you would want right now. But Forte is a beast, I didnt think he would be that good cause he looks small but he isn't.

I think this situation is different though, teams would gameplan for Farve not Grant.
I think Forte is the real deal, but definitely not better.

The only Adrian Peterson he should be compared to is the one on his own roster.

Forte is just your typical slightly above average rookie.
His yards per carry is a very average 4.0.
    AD's
    5.6yds is HUGE in comparison.
Even receiving, Forte's 7.5 is almost half of AD 14.1.

If CT was the Bears starting RB, they would have locked up the NFCN last week.

I remember another Chicago rookie RB that ran for over 1000 yards.
Rashad Salaam and he only started 11 games.
    Enough said.

I think that Steve Slaton is the real rookie RB to watch.
He has much better numbers that the other rookie backs.

    Slaton
    Chris Johnson (Titans)
Johnathan Stewart (Panthers).... shares carries with D. Williams or his # of yards would be HUGE

All are far better than Forte

What I find funny is during draft and in pre-season the "analysts" talked about Darren McFadden being the next AD.... ha ha ha.

Re: Bears' Matt Forte making first impression an ever-lasting one

Forte already has more carries then AD had all season last year

Peterson didn't start right away and split alot of carries for awhile

    Peterson missed time

Forte and Peterson should never be mentioned in the same breathe
