Re: The Atlanta Julio Jones trade.
Even after I laid all the picks out, your still saying that? WOW. How good do you want him to be?

A HOF'r with every pick? Again, as I said in that thread, I challenge you to come up with a few GMs who do as good as you think he should.
Long story short, am I a fan of Spielman? No, but it isn't like he is crap when it comes to doing his job. Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.

Re: The Atlanta Julio Jones trade.
His picks aren't even good. He has about two actual good players drafted in Miami. Other than that, they were mostly all backups. Most GM's hit occasionally, Spielman has missed far more it seems

Of course not. But you laid out about an 8 year sample right? I counted four potential elite players. Peterson, Harvin, Rice and Greenway.A HOF'r with every pick?
Remains to be seen. He's had a few good picks with Minnesota. Very, very few with Miami. Jury is still out on who made the call on those Minny picks as well. Signs point to Chilly.Long story short, am I a fan of Spielman? No, but it isn't like he is crap when it comes to doing his job.

Re: The Atlanta Julio Jones trade.
yep I'll support this move for the fact that it has the potential to screw Atlanta big time for the next couple of years as a minimum. This could be Atlanta's equivalent to the Walker trade.

Re: The Atlanta Julio Jones trade.
I LOVE trading to go get your guy, but this one was ridiculous. Are you telling me that was the Browns drop dead deal? They would have said no to a 1st rounder, second rounder and two 4ths?
The Falcons definitely did not need to give up TWO first rounders, even if they are in the Championship game or better and they are only picks 30 and 32, that is a whole helluva lot.
I HAVE to think they could have gotten that pick for cheaper if they had held to it ... but if they think Julio Jones gets them a Super Bowl this year or next, more power to them.
I would think they would move up and go for Patrick Peterson considering how dreadful their secondary can be at times ... and secondary/LB depth is always available later in drafts, if you didn't give up your entire draft to get a No. 2 wide receiver.

Re: The Atlanta Julio Jones trade.
My guess, you don't know who more than 2 of the players are who I put in that 8 year sample if you think those are the only 4.

Larry Shannon WR Miss
Lorenzo Bromell DT Hit Alot of production for very few plays, I'm guessing as a pass rushing specialist Again, I wouldn't exactly call this a hit.
Scott Shaw G Miss
Nathan Strikwerda C Miss
John Dutton QB Miss
Jim Bundren G Miss
So out of all those players. There are less than ten decent players. A bunch of those players really shouldn't even count, but I was feeling generous.
ten out of ~70 is NOT good, no matter how you slice it. hitting on 14% of the players is just straight up awful.
So, unless your qualification for being a good player is that you have feet, most of these guys are not good players.
I think he's had more hits with the Vikings than his whole career in Miami. And he often had much better picks with Miami.

Re: The Atlanta Julio Jones trade.
The requirement for a hit was 4 years in the league and this didn't answer my question.

Re: The Atlanta Julio Jones trade.
Of the hits, I recognized about 75% of them. The misses, far less. Ryan leaf was in the league for 4 years, does that make him a hit?

Re: The Atlanta Julio Jones trade.
While I feel we had bigger needs to fill Rudolph looks to be a darn solid player.

He probably won't be a bust, but dumb pick? Absolutely
