I can understand that players feelings on that.. I mean what if one of their superstars has a career ending injury because of that crap? Never mind, they don't have any superstars on that team :grin: You know for Marinelli as a rookie coach, he should really read up on the rules before hand..

I don't blame the players ... minicamp is a place to get in shape and get ready for full camps ... not to get hurt and I am sure this is Marinelli coming in and showing he is a discipline guy blah blah blah and trying to be a prick to people to show he is serious and BREAKING THE RULES ... the grievance is fair ... but I understand where Marinelli would be coming from ... but coming in a being a hard ass just to be a hard ass to millionaire athletes does not get you anywhere ... you have to earn a little respect before you become the hardcore disciplinarian and Marinelli has no serious background to expect that kind of respect like a Tom Coughlin or Bill Parcells does

The Collective Bargaining Agreement forbids contact work during minicamps. Under Article XXXVI, Section 4 reads: Contact: There will be no contact work (e.g., “liveՉۈ ¢â€žÂ¢ blocking, tackling, pass rushing, bump-and-run) or use of pads (helmets permitted) at minicamps.

According to a Lions player, the team drills were very physical even to the point where, on at least one occasion, an offensive lineman and defensive line lineman got into a scuffle over the heavy contact.

Unlike previous head coaches, Marinelli refused to allow the media to watch any of the team drills, which is where the bulk of the excessive contact allegedly took place. On the first day of minicamp on April 11, Marinelli told the media: “It was the first day and I wanted to give the coaches a chance to be themselves. I want (the players) to understand the tempo. The most important thing was to get things established.’’



What ever players are doing this shoould be removed from the team what a joke.

God, Lions are weak!!! I can't believe that is the reason they filed the complaint!!! LOL :grin:
