Re: Another blackout looms for cheering Packer fans

My Sister and Borther-In-Law live in River Falls when there is a "blackout" they go a few miles down the road to Ellsworth to watch the game, takes like 10 minutes to get there. No biggie.

Isn't Ellsworth still within the 75 mile radius?

Ellsworth WI is 13 miles from River Falls. Takes 20 minutes to get there from River Falls.

Unlike a Vikings blackout at least these Packer fans can go to the bar and watch their team.

Quote: Packer fans can ignore the televised Viking games and go to local bars and restaurants that have a Direct Satellite NFL package. Those places make sure all Packer games are televised.
Not true unless they are outside the blackout area. The same rules apply across the NFL.

They are talking about the River Falls area, which is not in the Green Bay area. Therefore bars outside the blackout area can televise the games & anyone with a satellite package outside the blackout area can also.
You are confusing "blackout" vs. "sphere of influence" (or whatever the NFL calls it).
The blackout rules pertain only to a broadcast of any individual home team's game within their "sphere of influence".
They gots nothing to do with whether or not the Packers game can be shown in a River Falls bar (or on any DirectTV NFL Sunday Ticket package).

IF the Vikings HAD NOT sold out today's game, then the CBS Affiliate for River Falls would be dark - no alternative game would be shown on CBS.
And FOX would not be able to air the Pack @ KC game in it's place.
    That all is true.

But DirectTV is NOT blacked out for ALL OTHER GAMES in that situation, just the VIKINGS game.
What you're saying is that if the Vikings don't sell out - then NO ONE in the "Sphere of Influence" gets to see ANY Noon games if they have Sunday Ticket - and that ain't true.

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!
