NBCSports.com, citing the San Francisco Chronicle, reports the Oakland Raiders blasted a report by Sports Illustrated that former San Francisco 49ers' owner Eddie DeBartolo and team president Carmen Policy are interested in buying the team. SI said DeBartolo suggested in March that the Raiders are vulnerable for a takeover, because of falling attendance and possible failing health of owner Al Davis. SI said DeBartolo has looked into buying the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but was spurned by owner Malcolm Glazer. Raiders CEO Amy Trask firmly denied that the Raiders are for sale or that Davis is in failing health. "The rumors about his health are false. Al is as healthy and as vital as ever,' Trask said.

He looks pretty bad. His appearance has really deteriorated in the past few years, so I think they're full of crap.

Steve Pajak, of the Sacramento Bee, reports former San Francisco 49ers president Carmen Policy concedes there is virtually no chance he and former 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo Jr. would ever be in a position to buy the Oakland Raiders. In an interview with KPIX in San Francisco, Policy said DeBartolo would like to return to the NFL as a minority owner of a team someday.

Policy also said while he and DeBartolo won't be buying the Raiders, they both have a feeling that Al Davis is the walking dead, and that people should be afraid. Mr. Davis could not be reached for comment.
