While TG may not be in the prime of his career, he most certainly isn't in the tail-end, either. Even if he was in the tail-end, I'd still prefer him to Shank.

    [year/team/gp/rec/yds/avg/long/TD/first downs]

    2003 Kansas City Chiefs 16 71 916 12.9 67 10 48
    2004 Kansas City Chiefs 16 102 1258 12.3 32 7 69
    2005 Kansas City Chiefs 16 78 905 11.6 39 2 45
    2006 Kansas City Chiefs 15 73 900 12.3 57 5 54
    2007 Kansas City Chiefs 16 99 1172 11.8 31 5 59

The man is still producing at a high level despite playing with crappy to mediocre-at-best QB's to the tune of Green, Huard, Croyle, and Thigpen. Everyone knows that he catches a lot of balls, but the numbers that impress me the most are in the first column, games played; and last column, first downs. those numbers alone prove that he is still both durable AND reliable.
Dont get my wrong i would like to see him in a vikings uniform but it ant gonna happen.. First of all we are paying shaico 6 million this year, and look at our front office we always go after guys in the prime of there career (allen, berrian, williams) remember when everyone thought we were going to get E. james from the colts and we ended up getting chester. James was still producing numbers but past his prime. so i really dont think we are going to him

Obviously this would look like a solid move on paper for the Vikes if there is any truth to the fact that he wants to leave. We agreed to terms with the Chiefs before, so maybe we have some goodwill with them.
I would imagine this would take at least a third-round draft pick. But why the hell not? I am not as down on Shank as others, but Gonzo is certainly a major upgrade and would likely be a solid guy in the clubhouse.

Don't the Cheifs have enough of our draft picks already?

    I like Shiancoe.

Gonzalez is a very short term guy.
Why do you like Shank? He can block but his big play ability is minimal. Tony is a threat on every play.
I think Shiancoe definitely has big play ability. Didn't we bring him in to help stretch the field?

He's got very good speed for a TE, if our WRs start demanding some safety respect I think Shank turns into a serious weapon. So long as he he holds onto the ball.

He is not coming here. Would it be nice yeah t would but its not ahppening. Gonzo said he wants to come to a contender.
In other words he wants to go somewhere where they have a QB, that is not almost 40 and his back up who couldn't hot water standing in the middle of a ocean.

I think we did bring him in for that. Too bad I still see 8 in the box.

lets face it, how many trades, let alone of this magnitude do you see done during the regular season?
and we can't deny shank has ability.
hes atlethic and gets open, i dont think anyone can question that, now his catching is a different story.
they have gone alot to him through the first 3 games, if they continue he has to make the plays at least some of the time.
if not, get someone in there that will catch or just stop calling as many plays that go to him cuz i konw they like his blocking.
its fun to talk about, but if it actually happened, i'd actually shit myself.
thats how little faith in have in this happening

That has nothing to do with his play though.

    That's playcalling.

If we ran some play action once in a while then we'd rarely see 8 in the box.
