    About the Playoffs....

I had some free time, so I did the math on how the matches between the top 8 in the NFC will be...For those of you who want to know. BTW, we're #8 on that list. Between the top 8 there will be 8 forced losses and 8 forced wins, which means that 8 teams on the list will have a W in their column and 8 wont. Say we win 3 more and finish 9-7 (if it does happen), All we need are these top 8 matches to go our way and we can slip into the playoffs this season. Preferably, we need the teams with the 7-4 records to be on the losing side for the rest of these games.

The 8 top teams in the NFC:

    Seattle
    Carolina
    Chicago
    Dallas
    Giants
    Tampa Bay
    Atlanta
    Vikings

Now some of those teams have to play each other and obviously someone HAS to lose.

    Week 13
    Atlanta @ Carolina
    Cowboys @ Giants

    Week 14
    Bucs @ Carolina

    Week 15
    Atlanta @ Chicago

    Week 16
    Atlanta @ Bucs
    Dallas @ Carolina

    Week 17
    Carolina @ Atlanta
    Vikings @ Bears

That being said it won't mean much if we can't pull out a majority of victories over our last few games.

We have the Rams, Eagles, and Redskins right behind us.

Thanks for clearing that up Del. I get a little off track when it comes to clarifying things sometimes

We have the Rams, Eagles, and Redskins right behind us.
Rams/Redskins play this week, so one of them will be all but out of it.

Carolina has 4 games against top 8.
    Atlanta also has 4.
Dallas has 2 (but I believe they also play a couple tough AFC Teams yet)
Gaints have only 1, but they also play the Eagles and Redskins again, I believe.
Chicago has 2 (and I believe games against Cinci and Pitt).
    Bucs have 2.

Also the Bucs, Falcons, Panthers all play the Saints at least one more time, and I read last year, the Saints ran the table on that in a similar situation, so they may play spoiler.

If we win out until the Chicago game and go into that at 10-5, this is how I foresee the rest of it. Hypothetically speaking, let's say this happens:

Carolina loses 2 more. (they could still go 11-5)
Atlanta loses 2 more. (they could go 10-6)
Dallas loses 2 more. (they could go 10-6)
Giants lose 1 more. (they could go 11-5)
Tampa loses 1 more. (they could go 11-5)
Bears lose one more before our wk 17 matchup. (they would go into the game against us at 11-4)

We not only need these teams to beat each other up, we need the AFC to help a little bit(several top NFC teams have games remaining against the Chiefs, Chargers, Steelers, Patriots and Bengals), and win out.

    Re: About the Playoffs....

I think for now the Vikings need to focus on there next game and that is it. If the team worries too much about what is going on around them and things that are not in their control they will self-destruct!!

We lucked into the postseason last year, this year we need to ride a wave into the playoffs to even make it, I really think that the Packers are going to go into Chi-town and get a big W this Sunday!! I do not know why, maybe because Favre still has a little magic left in that arm and they have played teams tough this season, sorta like how they went into Atlanta and won!!

    Cheers!!

That's true....too much worrying can be self-destructive, but it's hard not to wonder and be analytical when it comes to the playoffs.

    Re: About the Playoffs....

Blah blah blah, we have talked about this stuff ad naseum in here. A lot of it looks good (tie-breaker over the Giants) and a lot of it doesnt (like losing tie-breakers to T.B., Carolina and Atlanta). It will be much clearer in a couple of weeks when we should be 8-5 and the Redskins and Rams should be all but out of it.

    Re: About the Playoffs....

The easy answer is to root against every team that we need to pass up in order to make the playoffs...root against them EVERY week...if two of them play one another, root against the team for whom losing the game would benefit us the most...root for those teams to suck so bad that no matter how badly their opponent plays, they STILL lose.

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, root for the Vikings to WIN EVERY GAME!!!

    Simple enough to me!!!

    GO VIKES!!!
BANNED OR DEAD...I'LL TAKE EITHER ONE
