49ers fire coach Nolan, give job to assistant Singletary
We could only wish!
Looks like J.T. was not the answer.
Seven games into the NFL season, the San Francisco 49ers have fired head coach Mike Nolan.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported that they have offered the job to assistant head coach Mike Singletary and he has accepted. The two sides are working on a suitable contract.

As happy as I am for Singletary, especially with another Monority given a chance to be a NFL head Coach I am a little surprised that the job was not given to Martz who People seemed to think was one of the reasons he was hired.

I'm happy Singletary finally got a shot...one thing you can say, his players will come to play, and play hard.
There are a number of coaches who I think should remain as coordinators (not HC material), and Martz is one of them.Any man who afflicts the human race with ideas must be prepared to see them misunderstood. - H.L. Mencken

i'm kinda curious to see what they are gonna do at qb.
o'sullivan is martz's guy but obviously he hasn't been playing all that well and maybe singltary will want to make his mark right away.
either way nolan got his shot and couldnt really get the team going in a positive direction.
does that sound familiar at all?

Nolan is awesome. Any man who wears a suit to coach football in is OK in my books.
I hope he gets another job... like the one in minneostaWe're bringing purple back.

We've finally started winning some games, and last week, despite not winning, we still showed signs of improvement, especially on offense.
canning Childress now would destroy everything.
Once week 17 is done, thats another story.
