The shoe company still wins....what do they care if fans wear suits...

If they REALLY want to make a statement, they will fill up a SUIT jar stationed at each entrance to the stadium.
Just one dollar per fan would be plenty to pay off any fine the league imposes on NOLAN (plus some left over money to give to charity)

That would really send a message to the NFL that the fans support their coaches decision to wear whatever he wants!
I'd much rather see the Packers miss the playoffs because of their talent then because of their injuries.

It's a professional job, look like a professional.
I guess if you wear an old smelly sweatshirt when you're making millions a year as the HC it is better?

SANTA CLARA -- Reebok might be able to prevent Mike Nolan from wearing a suit on the 49ers' sideline, but the sneaker giant is powerless to stop a stadium-load of fans from donning their Sunday best on game day.

Call it the Formalwear Revolution, which was sparked last week by an Internet zealot who read that Nolan wasn't getting anywhere in his quest to permanently return the coat and tie to the NFL sideline. So "Ninerfan21" made a modest proposal: Why don't the 49ers' fans show Reebok where to shove it by showing up to the team's Sept. 10 home opener -- a prime-time affair, mind you -- dressed as businessmen? Since then, the idea has spread like chicken pox at summer camp.
For a little of background, Nolan wants to be allowed to wear a suit and tie on the sidelines during games.
Reebok allowed him to wear one to two games last season, but that is it.
Since he isn't getting any further, apparently the fans are throwing in their support.

I think it is a cool idea, and I applaud the fans for supporting their coach.
I like it!

Now - Vikings fans should do the same.
To show our disgust with the state legislature and the lack of progress on a new stadium, everyone should show up to the Vikings home opener naked.

=Z=
That would make those crowded concourses a whole lot more disgusting. ;D
Arrrrrrgh.
Brought back a bad memory/cliche from boot camp

Please don't go there
;D

I hopped over to the 49er site from Fan2Fan, and there is quite a bit of talk about the suit day.
One of the posters gave me a bit more information I wasn't aware of:

Hey, thanks for the support, appreciate it!

I jumped over to your site and looked your post up, maybe you could add the information that Coach Nolan wants to wear the suit especially to honor his father, who is battling Alzheimers disease, which makes our case even more worthwhile, I think.

And btw: The idea of you guys in your forum of showing up naked: Now THAT sounds intriguing And I love the section "Packers suck!", maybe we should have something similar for the Raiders or something

Nolan gets permission to suit up at S.F. home games
Posted: Wednesday June 13, 2007 8:04PM; Updated: Wednesday June 13, 2007 11:23PM

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -- Coach Mike Nolan will be a sharp-dressed man at all the San Francisco 49ers' home games this season.

Nolan and Jacksonville Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio got permission from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Wednesday to wear suits and ties to all eight of their clubs' regular-season home games in 2007.

The dress-up detente was the result of nearly three years of negotiations among Nolan, the league and Reebok. Though the league determines what apparel can be worn on the sideline, Reebok provides that clothing for coaches -- from Bill Belichick's sleeveless sweatshirts to the black suit Nolan was allowed to wear in two games last season.

"As I mentioned before, I made this request out of the high amount of respect I have for the NFL, the San Francisco 49ers, my father and all of the former coaches who have worn suits," said Nolan, who's 11-20 in two seasons with the Niners.
Which is, of course, the right thing to do.
Strange to see the NFL do the right thing....I wonder if they could pass their own drug tests?

=Z=

Thanks to Josdin for the awesome sig!
