2009 Analysis of NFC North (By position)

    QB
    1. GB- I must admit, Aaron Rodgers is the best QB of the mediocre bunch in this division.

    2.
MN- With Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels competing, the vikes have 2 QBs with some possible

    starter potential.

    3.
DET- I think DET may be able to muster up something from Pep.
If nothing else, there is always the deep ball to CJ.
And then they might go after a QB in the draft.

    4.
    CHI- Kyle Orton, no

    RB
    1.
    MN-
AD and CT are one of the best duos in the league.
And I could see us picking up a 3rd in the draft.

    2.
    CHI-
I give Forte a slight edge over Grant.
Plus they have the namesake in Adrian Peterson.

    3.
    GB-
Grant and Jackson are a decent combo.

    4.
    DET-
I really like the RBs in the division.
Kevin Smith showed some flashes last year, but they need depth.

    WR 1.
    GB-
Driver still has some left in the tank, Jennings is a beast, and James Jones is a solid 3rd option.

    2.
DET- Slight edge over Minny in my opinion due to the CJ factor.
They also brought in Bryant Johnson and Travis Taylor.

    3.
    MN-
Berrian did all they we asked from him last year.
But we need either Rice, Allison, Johnson, or Reynaud to step up.
Wade is solid but nothing special.
I would love to grab Nicks or someone in the draft too.

    4.
    CHI-
    Hester is their 1st option.
    They need some help.
    Lots of it.

    TE
    1.
MN- Shiancoe really showed us his potential last year.
He is only getting better and I still love Jimmy K and Mills.

    2.
CHI- I think Greg Olsen is going to be a great receiving option for the bears.
He still has to develop though.
Desmond Clark is a solid 2.

    3.
    GB-
Donald Lee is a very solid TE, who has the potential to be great.
    Decent depth too.

    4.
DET- Gaines and Fitzsimmons have yet to live up to expectations.
    Nothing special at all.

    OL 1. MN-
Even with the loss of Birk and the sub-par play of Cook, I still think we have the best line in the North.
    Especially the left side.

    2.
    CHI-
Garza and Kreutz are getting up there but are still elite linemen.
The rest is pretty solid, enough to put them over GB and DET.

    3.
    GB-
I think the loss of Tauscher could be a killer.
The rest of the line is decent but nothing special.

    4.
    DET-
Cherilus is the one standout on their line.
    The rest is pretty mediocre.

    DL- 1. MN-
Gotta love the Williams wall and JA.
Plus I still like Ray and if Udeze comes back could be nice.
Kennedy was a nice pick up for us, and I like our depth overall.
Could still use a pickup in the draft though.

    2.
    GB-
Kampman is a beast, Jolly is solid, and Jenkins is only going to get better.

    3.
CHI- Brown, Ojunleye, and Anderson can still produce.
They could use some help on the Dline though.
    Specifically DT.

    4.
    DET-
Not anyone on that line that I fear in particular.

    LB-
    1.
    DET-
Im giving DET a big bump here for picking up Peterson.
Him and Sims are very good LBs, I expect another guy will step up too.

    2.
    CHI-
Briggs and Urlacher can still be dominant.
Watch out for Jamar Williams too if he develops.

    3.
    MN-
If EJ can be dominant again I would put this group up a bit higher.
I like our depth more than any other team in the North but I think DET and CHI have LBs that teams have to really gameplan for.
Greenway is a stud and I think he will only get better.
Leber is solid in coverage, Erin will continue to develop, and Farewell will help ST.

    4.
    GB-
I think Hawk could be considered a bust.
    Barnett is pretty solid.
    The rest is pretty mediocre.

    CB-
    1.
    GB-
While they are getting up in age, I still think they have the best group in the North.
Harris is a great physical corner, Woodson has found the fountain of youth, Williams will develop into a starter soon, and the rest are all solid.

    2. MN- Winfield is coming off his 1st probowl year, Griffin is improving, I'd like to see McCauley step up, hope Gordon comes back at full strength, but I still hate Benny Sapp.
    Don't know Paymah that well.
    Address in the draft.

    3.
    CHI-
Vasher is still one of the better corners in the league.
Tillman is ok but gets burned regularly, see Berrian 99 yd TD, could use some depth.

    4.
    DET-
Anthony Henry was a nice snag, Buchanaon has yet to live up to hype.
The rest are pretty mediocre again.
Come to expect that from DET.

    S-
    1.
    GB-
Nick Collins shows flashes of brilliance.
    Needs to stay focused.
    Rouse is solid.
    Bigby is average.
    Pretty good depth though.

    2.
    MN-
Im giving the vikes a bump over CHI pending Johnson's development.
He got caught out of position alot last year, but I expect him to step up.
Madieu is a very dependable guy, a "protector".
    Need some more depth though.

    3.
    CHI-
Steltz is a very good S who is young and will continue to improve.
Josh Bullocks is a solid tackler but could use help in coverage.
    Pretty weak depth though.

    4.
    DET-
Schwiegert is a very capable saftey and Alexander may be able to develop into a fine S.
Still, much like the rest of the division, the safety position is still pretty raw.

    K-
    1.
    CHI-
Robbie Gould is very accurate and has made some big kicks in his days as a Bear.

    2.
    GB-
Krosby could develop into a great kicker.
He has the leg, is great on KO, but needs to work on accuracy.

    3.
    MN-
Has been very clutch for us, but lacks the leg on KOs.
But everytime the game is on the line, I feel very comfortable with him.

    4.
    DET-
Jason Hanson, 18 years of experience, still gets it done.
Gotta wonder how long he will last though.

    P-
    1.
    CHI-
Brad Maynard could be the best in our division.
Forgive me if I dont get this right, dont pay much attention to Ps.

    2.
    MN-
    Kluwe...he is inconsistent.
Sometimes he has some amazing kicks, pinning them inside the 10.
And other times hell pooch it for 20 yards.
Could have been his injuries, but ill give him the stage above GB and DET.

    3.
    DET-
Nick Harris...has to have some experience with punting, he played for DET last year.

    4.
    GB-
A new guy, from Penn State.
    Kapinos.
They will need him to produce though.

lol, you are definitely ready for the season to start.
I can hardly wait for your comparison of the long snappers in the NFC.

Re: 2009 Analysis of NFC North (By position)

    Very nice.......Couple of comments....

QB - Believe it or not, I rate Chicken Neck above Pepp at this point.
Saw some drivel being written were Pepp is back in good shape and ready to get his roll on again.
Should be fun to watch especially if the Lions go OL with thier first pick.

    WR - Travis Taylor?
    Really?
I think a couple of our guys will produce this year (El Syd/AA) but gotta agree with were you have them now.

TE - Olsen is hands down better than Shanc even at this stage of his career. I'd flipflop those two.

LB - I'm not so sold on our depth.
Do like a couple of thier moves this year (Kenny Onatolu/Heath) to shore it up a bit though so its not as big of a concern.

K - Your gonna get some push back on were you have Shortwell...... ;D

    Again, nice job my friend.
Many many thanks to my talented friend Jos for the new Sig.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/josdin00/Vikings/Marrdro_sig.jpg

Nice breakdown oaklandzoo24, I have to disagree with Marrdro about baby face Orton being better than CPep. But without a o-line Pep will struggle mightily in Detroit, and Orton.... well he just lacks consistency, and is always looking over his shoulder waiting for Lovie to pull the plug.
