That's very odd considering you've given up on someone the same age, has thrown the same number of passes, and has shown more.
How much experience has Jackson gotten compared to Leinart?

I am not a fan of Leinart, but my hunch is Jackson wouldn't have started any games if we had Warner on our team.

That's true. But we're comparing just Leinart and Jackson here and they have similar numbers across the board with Jackson having a slight edge in almost everything.

    Jackson - 524 career attempts, 58.4%, 3442 yards, 20 TD, 18 INT, 76.5 rating
    Leinart -
    518 career attempts, 55.8%, 3458 yards, 14 TD, 17 INT, 71.7 rating

They've both blown opportunities to assure themselves as the starter. Leinart was basically handed the starting job in Arizona and simply had to play pretty good to earn it ahead of Warner since he's the younger guy and potentially the future and couldn't do it.

Even in the opportunities he did have last season, he looked like shit. Even if you take away the stats and do the "does he have it" test, Leinart has not shown he has what it takes any more than Tarvaris.

My only point being back to my original statement that there's no reason to want Leinart and give up on T-Jack unless you're living in their college days still.

    I'll take Leinart as well.
LOL! Either double standards or blind hatred at it's finest.

    I'll say it's the latter.

I don't really know who I'd go with here.

IMO Leinart has more upside, but hasn't proven anything and is sort of immature.

Where TJack has less upside, more opportunities to prove he's the real deal, and is still mediocre. He's a true professional, and seems like a great guy off the field.

I'd be open to giving Leinart a chance, but not while TJack is still occupying a roster spot.

From the outside looking in, I think it is silly to wish yourself a QB in Leinart that has lots of offensive talent around him yet is relatively ineffective in that offense. One in which we know is capable of a ton of production with a capable QB. Leinart has shown little in his three seasons of effort there..

Listen, I love that fact the Childress in the coach of the Vikings, because he employs the KAO.. the bodes well for us.

But honestly, you have the pieces in place to have a very balanced offense with a running game that is arguably second to none, yet because of flaws in playcalling they haven't ceased the opportunity in front of them. You can wave the finger of blame at Jackson all you want, but face it, none of the QB's in MN have had a ton of success in the Childress era. Period.

I haven't watched a ton of Vikings games over the past three years so maybe I am just catching some of the poorer called games, but the lack of play action, screens, roll outs and quick rhythm throws to augment the passing game and to develop a young mobile QB was shocking to me.

I have seen less of Leinart, but the games I have watched him in, color me not impressed at all..

BTW.. I love Sunday Ticket on a Sunday afternoon.

Re: '06 first-round QBs are 0-for-3 so far

Been down this road lots of times.......

    http://www.purplepride.org/forums/in...8272#msg908272

    Long story short........
Leinart slipped for a reason, obviously his play so far justifies that slip (Notice I said so far...). We didn't move up to get Cutler (still wonder why) and there was no way in hell VY was worth moving up for regardless of how well he still might do (I doubt he plays much more) in this league.

Now lets look at what was left........

    [s]QB 1
Matt Leinart SR 6-5/217/- USC Santa Ana, CA
    QB 2
Vince Young JR 6-5/233/- Texas Houston, TX
    QB 3
Jay Cutler SR 6-4/225/- Vanderbilt Lincoln City, IN[/s]
    QB 4
Brodie Croyle SR 6-2.5/206/- Alabama Rainbow City, AL
    QB 5
Charlie Whitehurst SR 6-4/215/4.75 Clemson Alpharetta, GA
    [s]QB 6
Kellen Clemens SR 6-2/218/- Oregon Burns, OR[/s]
    QB 7
Omar Jacobs JR 6-4/210/- Bowling Green Delray Beach, FL
    QB 8
Ingle Martin SR 6-3/219/- Furman Nashville, TN
    QB 9
Darrell Hackney SR 6-1/230/- UAB Atlanta, GA
    QB 10
Reggie McNeal SR 6-2/206/- Texas A&M Lufkin, TX
    QB 11
Bruce Gradkowski SR 6-2/210/- Toledo Pittsburgh, PA
    QB 12
D.J. Shockley SR 6-1/206/- Georgia College Park, GA
    QB 13
Brett Basanez SR 6-2/210/- Northwestern Arlington Hts, IL
    QB 14
Erik Meyer SR 6-2/210/- Eastern Washington La Mirada, CA
    QB 15
Paul Pinegar SR 6-4/220/- Fresno State Woodland, CA
    QB 16
Travaris Jackson SR -/-/- Alabama State

...... my guess, TJ was a good pick based on what we've seen from everyone else who has actually played.
In the long run though, I think this QB class will go down as one of the weakest ever.
