OFFICIAL CHARGERS vs VIKINGS POSTGAME REVIEW
QB: C+ Didn't look good, but didn't look bad. Didn't really do anything, 7-15 for 39 yards isn't enough. Sorry, I mis-spoke. 7-15 for 39 yards is fucking pathetic. I blame partially playcalling, awful pass blocking and just probably unfamiliarity with the team.
RB: B+ Had some nice runs, but again, once the Chargers realized we weren't going to pass, they stoped him. Went over 100 yards, then lost the 100.
OL: D Wow, just wow. I thought we were supposed to be much improved? McNabb had no time to pass, Peterson had no room to run. By far our best blocker was Kliensasser
TE: C Nonexistant. Again, Sauce did a good job blocking, Shank had nothing really to add, didn't notice Rudolph wahtsoever.
WR: C- Hard to look good when your QB gets 39 passing yards in a game. However, couldn't really get open, dropped some balls, just wasn't there
DL: B- Had some decent pressures. Loved the Allen pick. But WTF is with the offsides. Like the announcers were pretty much yelling, You're 8 inches from the ball, Look at the damn ball. No excuse for that, especially the last one that clinched the loss.
LB: C Poor play. Sloppy tackling, mental mistakes, just not good
CB: B+ actually not bad today. Cook looked ok at times, but completely lost at others. 335 passing yards, but that's not all bad considering 48 attempts and our O couldn't do dick all.
S: B- Tackling woes continue, but they were looking better at times.
P: A If we had a team of guys as consistent at their position that Kluwe is at his, we'd be unstoppable. Unfortunately when your punter is one of your top 5 players, you don't win.
K: C+ Meh, made his FG, kickoffs were short, average starting position at the 25
God this was bad, chalk this up as a loss from the coaching standpoint. Our O somehow looks more conservative then when chilly first took over. You have two minutes left in the half, try and fricken score, don't run 3 times, punt and almost give up more points.
You can't get away from the run, but damn we needed to get something going in the passing game. Run some plays designed to get Harvin in space, Jenkins free for some catches, Berrian, deep, Shank underneath, anything. running only screens and drags doesn't get you anywhere. Somebody will probably twist this into me saying I want to see a high flying deep passing game, which I don't, but we need SOMETHING.
The offsides penalties at the end of the game was simply inexcusable. Somebody better be running laps after practice.
Having said that, I feel confident we can win at LEAST 3 games this season.
Those of you thinking we're an 11+ win team, hope you paid close attention. Something's gotta change. We are simply not good.
